Liberia is noted for its hospiality, academic institutions, cultural skillls, and arts/crafts works. Its was brought to the country by free and former slaves. There are 28 different dialects in Liberia but english is the number one speaking language in this country.

The Economic Enviroment


With the country's freedom score at 46.2, Liberia is the world's 163rd freest nation. Since the decade long civil war, much of liberia's infrastructure remains in ruins. Lately some economic recovery is occuring with the help of othe countries. It's Africa's oldest republic and one of the world's poorest country.

Goverment

Modeled by the United States for a long period of time, Liberia was marked by a growing opposition to a military regime. It's political history is dominated between the America Liberians and the ethnic Liberians. Liberia is part of an economic community called West African States (ECOWAS).

Liberia's Natural Terrain


Mostly a hilly terrain from rolling plains along the coast and mountains along the northeast.

The Rubber Trees


The rubber tree is a major resource in Liberia. The world's largest rubber tree plantation lies in the jungles of Liberia call Firestone. Firestone is a tire company in America that almost fell under after the Liberian Civil War. Other main resources are rice, iron ore, timber, coffee, and coccoa.

15 counties make up Liberia with each county having its own capital. Liberia is surrounded by Sierra Leone, Guinea, Cote d'Ivoire and the Atlantic Ocean. The country is located in West Africa.

Liberians live within the nation's capital. Founded in 1822, Monrovia was name after U.S. president, James Monroe.
